I'm proud to announce that I will be adding another license to my portfolio. I've been a licensed irrigation contractor throughout 9 different counties in Florida since 2000 and keeping up with all of the continuing education credit for each county has been a chore. When I first acquired my license, a state license was not available and now that the state is offering a license, I have now become a state license irrigation contractor. I will also continue to keep my Volusia County local license current to insure I'm covered no matter what laws get passed in the future. In Volusia County any contractor that performs irrigation work is required to be licensed, just like an electrician or plumber. Hiring a licensed contractor help insures that you are getting a company that has had back-round checks, credit checks, they have the proper insurances, and the qualifications to get the job done right.

When it comes to suction lines we can get it done for you. This job was different as the bank where the suction line goes is heavily wooded and had to be inserted from the water into the tree line. Thankfully I have a pro surfer who works with me who is very capable of guiding the suction line in on a windy day.

Check that the time on your irrigation controller is correct. With the storm, a lot of people lost power for so long that the controller's backup battery ran out and your settings might be off. Some controllers will default to run everyday for 10 minutes a zone. This could raise your water bill or have your system running when it should not be. Be careful with installing batteries in your controller. Some of the new controllers have hidden batteries for back up and have 9 volt battery made to allow contractors to set up the programs in the office and hand them to the crew for installation. Once the power is connected to the controller the 9 volt batteries need to be removed or it could damage your system. Call us if you have any questions.

What sets Kohler Outdoor apart from most Volusia County irrigation contractors is that I am actually a licensed irrigation contractor. Make sure your contractor has a contractor license for doing any irrigation work . Part of being a licensed contractor is keeping up all of my insurance requirements as well as continuing education requirements. I always enjoy adding to my knowledge.

This is the kind of project that makes me love my jobs and my clients. As you can see from the before picture the landscape is overgrown it's original design and was in need of an up date. There were a few coquina boulders scattered throughout the landscape that were invisible due to the landscape. We gathered them up, added a few additional boulders and created a couple of rock walls to give it character. This was a keep it simple, budget minded plan and I love the way it came out. At night it even looks better with a whole new landscape light system. This is one of my long term home owner's associations in Daytona that I've been taking care of the irrigation system at for 166 home owners.
