One of my goals for summer is complete! Homegrown cucumbers ➡️ dill pickles 😋 Used garlic from this past year's harvest & dill grown by a friend for a delicious 6 jars of pickle spears & chips. Can't wait to enjoy these!!

Monarch Butterfly enjoying milkweed in my garden this weekend! This plant came up on its own, likely seed brought from birds with our nearby bird feeders. It's thriving and so are the butterflies! Love how many butterflies we see daily in our yard now.

Our berry vines are in full force! Lots to harvest every few days. Here's the latest this week. Added a bunch to my overnight oats/yogurt while meal prepping for the week! They look beautiful while blooming & ripening on the vine. Looking forward to seeing how long they produce for! Raspberries are definitely ripening faster than the blackberries & loganberries.

Thrilled about yesterday's carrot harvest! Carrots in May, such a fun surprise! They seeded themselves after last fall. We definitely had some carrots with dinner 😋🥕😍

Spring has sprung! First blooms on my blackberry vines 😍 It's been just over a year since I planted them from bare-root. Excited to see what this season brings! Blackberries do especially well in SoCal compared to other berry vines due to their heat tolerance.

Today in SoCal felt like summer, especially since we got to pick a bowl-full of cherry tomatoes! Tomatoes in fall & winter is one of my favorite things about our climate. Noah's too! In the second picture he's chowing down on 20+ tomatoes after harvesting 😆😋🍅 Time to make some spaghetti with fresh sauce!

One of Noah's favorite vegetables is ready to harvest! 🫑 It was hard to wait for them to turn red (one we picked green for chopping into a meal). But Noah prefers them deep red for his "healthy choice" in his lunches at school. And here we are! He was wearing the perfect shirt too - "Dream Big" kiddo, mother nature creates beautiful things! Amazingly this small plant produced 5 huge peppers!

Proudly holding our first honeydew melon! It took patience to let this ripen on the vine...today was finally the day 🍈😋 And it was tasty, indeed! Love that these are personal size and we can eat it in a couple sittings. Excited about the melons still ripening on the vine! The 2 plants took over the entire raised bed 😊

My first time growing garlic! It was fun to braid them to hang for curing. Can't wait to experiment with lots of garlic recipes! 🧄 I see lots of garlic bread in our future... 😋 Feel free to share any of your favorite garlic recipes! Or any questions you have about growing garlic - I planted these early December, so it took 8 months total.
