🏗️ To close out Careers in Construction Month, and we're excited to be connecting again with some of our recent scholarship winners and learn how their next steps are going.

At SCCA, supporting construction careers goes beyond talking about opportunity. we're helping create it.

Through the SCCA Scholarship Fund, we provide financial assistance to students pursuing construction and engineering-oriented degrees, while encouraging scholarship recipients to explore careers with SCCA member companies.

It’s one way we can connect promising students with the industry that needs their talent, ideas and leadership.

To close out this month, we're celebrating the students, apprentices, skilled tradespeople and professionals choosing to build their futures in construction.

The next generation is ready to build. Let’s make sure they have opportunities to do it. 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

🏗️ Throwback to a conversation with J&M Concrete that still resonates today.

Last year, Christina Ruiz and Norman Tonderas shared how SCCA membership helps their team navigate Southern California’s changing construction landscape.

From training and education to timely information on regulations, safety requirements and market conditions, J&M highlighted the value of having resources that help contractors stay prepared, competitive and ahead of the curve.

🗣️ Everyone has a voice.

It’s one of SCCA’s guiding beliefs, and during Construction Inclusion Week, it’s worth emphasizing why that matters on every jobsite.

A strong construction team is one where people are respected, supported and comfortable contributing.

That means listening to different perspectives.
It means treating coworkers with dignity.
It means giving people opportunities to develop their skills.
And it means creating an environment where someone feels comfortable speaking up, whether they have an idea, a question or a concern.

Creating that kind of workplace takes commitment from everyone, from leadership to the people working in the field every day.

Construction Inclusion Week may last five days, but building a culture of respect and opportunity is something we can work toward all year long.

🏗️ October is Careers in Construction Month!

Construction is more than a job. It’s an opportunity to build a career, develop valuable skills and help shape the communities around us.

From the skilled trades and equipment operation to estimating, project management, engineering, safety and leadership, there are many paths to building a future in construction.

And not every path starts with a four-year degree. Apprenticeships, training programs and hands-on experience can provide opportunities to earn while you learn and develop skills that can last a lifetime.
