💥🚑 Out with the old and in with the new! 🚑💥
After many years, countless jobs and service calls, and more miles than we can count, it was finally time to say goodbye to our old service truck.
That old rig put in the work, traveling thousands of miles to serve homes and businesses and helping customers with glass repairs, garage door installations, emergency calls, and various projects throughout our community and surrounding areas.
While that old ambulance faithfully carried us all over, we eventually wore it out. It truly served us well and officially earned its retirement.
Now, we’re excited to share that we’ve upgraded to a new “Rescue Rig” and it’s officially on the road!
So, if you see this new truck rolling through your town, know that we’re out there taking care of our customers and continuing to assist homeowners and businesses with their glass and garage door needs.
We’re grateful for all the support over the years, and we stay committed to serving the communities that have backed us for so long.

▪️Executive Plaza - Ord, Nebraska▪️
Owner Cathy Bruha decided to upgrade her building by having us install a new commercial storefront for the Executive Plaza in Ord. The Plaza offers office space and has been a staple in Ord for many years, even serving as a grocery store at one point. We welcomed the opportunity to complete a local job right here in Ord.
Although not usually feasible, we were able to conduct this job in stages, different from our typical installation process. We began by removing the existing entrance and windows, securing the area by boarding up the openings, and then fabricated all the necessary frames to ensure optimal fit and finish.
Next, we installed a new aluminum storefront door complete with a transom frame and sidelite, along with seven large storefront windows. We even added two large pillars to the opening, redesigning the layout of the windows from the original design.
The aluminum frames are thermally broken and feature a dark bronze anodized finish. We used 1-inch-thick double-pane insulated glass for the new storefront, ensuring that all the glass is tempered for maximum safety. We capped all the exposed exterior wood with custom aluminum wrapping for a finishing touch!
We wish to express our gratitude to Cathy and the Executive Plaza for selecting us to upgrade their storefront. It was our pleasure to enhance the building's aesthetics and improve its thermal efficiency.

⛺️ Kamp Kaleo - Burwell, NE 🪟
Kamp Kaleo is located just outside Burwell, Nebraska, alongside the scenic North Loup River, and recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. We established a professional relationship with this customer a few years prior, during which we carried out various projects, including auto glass repairs and commercial window installations.
We recently enhanced their Lodge building by replacing all the original windows with durable, energy-efficient vinyl windows. The windows feature double-pane insulated glass, which contains argon gas in the airspace to improve thermal performance, and Low-E glass, which incorporates thin layers of anti-reflective metal oxide coatings, effectively reflecting long-wave infrared energy. As a result, the building stays cooler in the summer by rejecting sunlight and warmer in the winter by reflecting heat back inside.
Furthermore, we concluded the project by capping all exposed exterior wood with custom aluminum wrapping for a nice finish.

Ord First United Methodist Church - Ord, NE
It's been a while since we posted, we'll try to do a better job of that moving forward; it's been a very busy couple of years here at Sandhills Glass & Garage Doors!
We just completed new commercial storefront doors for the historic First United Methodist Church right here in Ord, Nebraska. We removed the existing doors, and installed two pairs of aluminum storefront doors with transom frames. All the aluminum has a dark bronze anodized finish, and the 1-inch thick, double-pane glass (tempered with bronze tint) completed the new entrances.
It was our pleasure to enhance the building's aesthetics and improve the thermal efficiency of this historic church that has stood for over 110 years!
Thank you, First United Methodist, for choosing us to upgrade your entrance doors. We have been traveling a lot, and involved in many out-of-town jobs lately, so it was nice to do a local job right here in Ord.
