Red Thread takes its name from the structures of fungus on the tips of the infected turf that resembles a red thread. With supplemental applications of nitrogen fertilizer, red thread may be held in check. Red Thread turf disease is largely cosmetic. The infected areas of turf will recover usually without lasting effects of infection. Red thread is very common with excessive moisture.
