A little landscaping makes a big difference!

This customer wanted to add some landscaping around the house while still keeping things clean, simple, and low maintenance. We installed a rock bed with edging, giving the home a finished look while leaving the planting to planters that can easily be changed out from season to season.

Something a little different for us today!

We had the opportunity to help a customer get started on a rain garden that will have some sentimental value to them. This was our first time excavating one, and it made for a quick and easy little project!

We handled the excavation and shaping and fill. The customer will take it from here with the planting and finishing touches.

Jaxon is headed back to school!

For the second year in a row, I’ve been trying to convince him that a career in accounting isn’t nearly as good as lawn care… but apparently I haven’t made a very convincing argument. 😂

So, he insists on heading back to La Crosse for another year. 🤷🏻‍♂️

New concrete is great… until you’re left with a drop-off along the edges.

We’ve been doing a lot of driveway edge backfilling lately after new concrete installs.

Fresh topsoil, properly graded and feathered into the existing lawn — ready for a little rain. 🌱

Happy Birthday, Tony!

It was actually yesterday, and I knew that… I just forgot to post. 😂

Tony stopped into the shop one day after dropping his daughter off at school and asked if we were hiring. At the time, I think we had all of four employees. He had some landscaping experience from years before but had spent the last several years being a stay-at-home dad.

He joined us in April of 2023, and I’m really glad he walked through that door that day. Since then, Tony has become one of those people I know I can call no matter what needs to be done. He’s stepped up more times than I can count and has become someone I genuinely trust and rely on.

More importantly, he’s an amazing dad, a genuinely good person, and a huge part of our team. We’re lucky to have him, and I probably don’t say that enough.

We love ya, Tony. Happy belated birthday! ❤️🎂

After three years, I still can’t watch him back a trailer without cringing a little. 😂 But eventually, he gets it where it needs to go.

If only Facebook had a scratch-and-sniff feature..

It’s not uncommon for us to get a mower in the shop with a “tenant,” but this guy really settled in. 🐭

Built himself a nice little home, stocked the pantry, and apparently decided the air filter made a pretty comfortable mattress.

And the smell… 🤢

Definitely one of the best—or worst—mouse infestations we’ve seen come through the shop.

We fix small engines and apparently handle evictions too. 🔧😂

If you’ve never been here, you’re missing out.

🌿 McKay Garden Center deserves a shoutout.

I’d bet just about every tree, shrub, and perennial we’ve installed over the last 5+ years has come from McKay. Their selection is great, but what really stands out is the staff. They’re always friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help.

I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a plant expert. I can certainly make suggestions, but I almost always encourage customers to stop in, look around, and talk with the team at McKay. They know their plants far better than I do, and when customers have that kind of experience, they usually become customers for life.

Thanks to everyone at McKay Garden Center for always taking great care of us and our customers! 🌳
