Halm Electrical Contracting, Inc. is growing and we are seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Estimator/Project Manager to join our team in Ottawa, IL.
We specialize in working in a variety of industrial and commercial environments, including chemical, sand, distribution, packaging, retail and more.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Estimate various plan and spec projects.
• Examine work orders to determine the appropriate course of action.
• Order materials.
• Provide start to finish support and follow-up to customers and the project foreman to ensure company quality and performance standards are reached.
• Evaluation of subcontractor proposals, review of scope gaps or overlaps
• Perform take-offs.
• Draft change orders.
• Complete appropriate forms, reports and other required paperwork.
• Attend staff/sales meetings.
• Communicate with supervisors, peers, subordinates or customers in order to provide/receive information by telephone, in written form, in person or by email.
• Use computer systems to enter, access or retrieve data.
• Work closely with the Accounting Department to ensure accurate billing is conducted.
• Request/be present for municipality inspections.
• Maintain and assist updating construction cost databases
• Professional writing preparing various construction project documents including but not limited to Request of Information, Request for Proposals, and Request for Qualifications
• Attend and collaborate with the production teams at various construction meetings held at the office or jobsite
Requirements:
• Experience in analyzing construction blueprints, and reviewing electrical specifications and code
• Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of National Electric Code.
• Knowledge of A/C & D/C motors, A/C & D/C variable speed drive systems, motors (single and three-phase), motor control systems, L.C. systems, process control systems, and industrial electronics, circuit boards, fiber optics, computer hardware and software.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, maintenance and safe operation.
• Knowledge of techniques and standards for installation/connection of electrical equipment to power circuit.
• Techniques and standards for removal/disconnection of electrical equipment from power circuit.
• Knowledge of techniques and standards for installing repaired/replacement equipment in various industrial settings, such as refinery, mill, steel service centers, sand plants chemical plants, etc.
• Techniques and standards for performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Project), Electrical Bid Manager
