IS HEAVY RAIN DISRUPTING YOUR SEPTIC SYSTEM?
Heavy rain raises the water table and saturates the soil, preventing drain fields from absorbing wastewater, causing drainage issues. These issues can be slow drains, odors and surface water in the yard, gurgling drains and toilets. In some cases, the system may backup or stop working completely.

During heavy rains and flooding, REDUCE all water usage by limiting toilet flushing, dishwashing, laundry and showering.

After the rain stops, continue reducing water usage for at lease 72 hours. Avoid walking or driving over the drain field.

Pumping your septic tank, during a very heavy rainy spell, often does not help. Surface water and ground water in your yard, will likely flow back into the empty tank and your problems will begin again shortly after pumping your septic.
