Hey Everyone! It's that time again!! Here is the reason now is the best time to get your pond cleaned... please read on:

While the water temperatures are cold, beneficial bacteria has become less active, meaning decaying organic matter like leaves and debris will accumulate at the bottom of the pond, creating a nutrient-rich sludge that can lead to large algae blooms in the spring when temperatures rise again; essentially, a clean pond in winter helps prevent a major algae problem in the warmer months.
Key reasons to clean a pond in cold weather:
• Reduced bacterial activity:
Cold water slows down the decomposition process, leaving debris to build up at the bottom of the pond.
• Nutrient control:
This accumulated debris acts as a fertilizer for algae growth when warmer weather arrives.
• Improved oxygen levels:
Removing excess organic matter helps maintain better oxygen levels for fish, which are more vulnerable in colder water.
• Preventative maintenance:
Cleaning in the fall helps prepare your pond for the winter and ensures a healthy ecosystem come spring.
