Getting ready for the winter storm? Wondering if we will get 1” or 60” of snow? (Or none haha). Kentucky seems to get one extreme or the other, but it is best to be prepared either way!
Here are some winter tips we would like to pass along to help our community prepare for the upcoming cold weather:
❄️❄️ Leave a slow drip from your faucets during the night. This helps protect pipes, especially in older homes, from freezing as it keeps water flowing even if very slowly. Opening your cabinet doors that have pipes in them (like your kitchen sink and bathrooms) will also help prevent freezing.
❄️❄️ Cover your outside hydrants with proper protection. This will help prevent your lines from bursting and causing major water damage in your walls, which oftentimes spread and damages the flooring as well.
❄️❄️ Close your crawlspace vents to help ward off the cold air from freezing your pipes underneath your house.
❄️❄️ Open the blinds in your home to let the sun help heat your house so your unit doesn't work as hard.
❄️❄️ Check to make sure your furnace and water heater are running properly. We offer services on both items, whether that be seasonal tune-ups or a complete changeout.
