While we have our biggest SALE of the year, here’s some helpful tips while planting in month of July. 🍃

💧 Water deeply, not daily

* Water early in the morning to reduce evaporation.
* Newly planted shrubs, trees, and perennials need more frequent watering until established.

🌱 Add 2–3 inches of mulch

* Mulch helps keep soil cool and reduces water loss.
* Keep mulch a few inches away from plant stems and tree trunks to prevent rot.

🌸 Deadhead and prune

* Remove spent blooms from annuals and many perennials to encourage continued flowering.
* Trim back leggy growth on herbs and flowering plants for a fuller appearance.

🌞 Protect new plants

* Plant in the evening or on cloudy days if possible.
* Consider temporary shade cloth for delicate new plantings during heat waves.

🌿 Fertilize carefully

* Avoid heavy fertilizing during extreme heat.
* Use a slow-release fertilizer or compost if plants need a boost.
