Yesterday we had a great day in Fayetteville that included cleaning a gorgeous sandstone sundial pedestal, consulting at Cross Creek Cemetery, and a climb up the bell tower of one of the oldest Presbyterian church buildings in North Carolina.

We finished plaster repairs in the dining room of Hillsborough's Masonic Hall, home of Eagle Lodge #19 AF&AM for the past two centuries. Looking forward to seeing how the new paint job turns out.

Thanks to everyone who came to our Demystifying Drywall & Plaster workshop this weekend. We covered some of the differences between the two products, common causes for product failures, as well as proper techniques for repairs.

A few updates to yesterday's post: the repair is done! The monument commemorates John Huske, who was a veteran of the War of 1812. And his monument was carved by master stone carver George Lauder, a Scottish craftsman who was among the masons that built the NC Capitol building.
