Some things I’ve learned from painting my first (!) live model painting ever at New York Academy of Art Summer Residency program.

I was quite nervous about the prospect of painting a live model but it turns out I thoroughly enjoyed the process.

Week three of the New York Academy of Art Summer Residency Program has some big moments. I started a new figure painting in class using the wipe out method, progressed on my drawing to defining the edges of the figure, and added arms to my sculpture. Also went through a round of faculty critiques that gave me a lot to think about with the direction of my work. And during the weekend, Char!, Josie Brown and I went to Brooklyn museum where there was a whole room dedicated to ocean paintings 🌊

We’ve got one more week left of the program and I really don’t know how the month has passed by so quickly.
