Making Florida homes safer — especially for those who served. 🇺🇸

Today we’re in Merritt Island, FL, at a veteran’s home where we provided hurricane protection services at no cost.

This project included removing the soffit around the entire perimeter and installing new hurricane straps on every truss. While some straps were already present, many lacked proper fasteners and showed heavy rust — a common issue in coastal areas with high salt content like Merritt Island.

We also talk about a critical but often overlooked risk: gable end bracing.
While gable bracing does not qualify for insurance discounts, it is one of the most vulnerable areas during high-wind events. Without proper reinforcement, the gable wall can separate from the concrete structure and allow the roof to lift during a storm.
