All residential collection services will occur one day later than your normal pickup day.

Earth Day Is Just the Beginning

Earth Day gives us a moment to reflect—but the work continues every day.

This month, we enjoyed connecting with our community at Ventura’s Earth Day Festival and local EcoFest events, sharing how simple actions like recycling food waste can help reduce methane emissions and protect our environment.

The sound of progress in Thousand Oaks! 🔊✨

From the “clank” of the bins to the “thud” of the bulky items, these are the sounds of a community being cleaned up. A massive thank you to everyone who stopped by this past Saturday to clear out the clutter! One resident even told us, “This is my Christmas!” 🎄🚛

Shoutout to the incredible E.J. Harrison & Sons crew for the heavy lifting and hard work that makes these events possible.

📬 Important Reminder: These events are invite-only. Keep an eye on your mailbox for a postcard letting you know when your specific event is scheduled!

If you missed yours this year, hold tight—we’ll be back again next year.

With fuel prices continuing to rise, we’re exploring new ways to keep collection moving efficiently across Ventura County.

Beginning today, select trucks will begin testing alternative locally sourced fuel options, including:

• Used french fry oil
• Leftover taco grease
• Cold brew concentrate
• Emergency avocado oil reserves

Early results suggest one truck is now running 12% smoother and smells suspiciously like lunch.

No service changes today — just a little April Fools fun from EJ Harrison & Sons.

Presidents Day reminder 🇺🇸
Trash, recycling, and organics service stays on schedule this week.

All three carts go out like normal, including your organics cart. Food waste is collected weekly and should be bagged before going into the green cart, even if you don’t have yard waste.

Why it matters: food waste in landfills creates methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. When you separate it properly, it gets recycled into compost and soil instead of polluting the atmosphere.

Ventura County is helping lead the way with local food waste recycling infrastructure, keeping material out of landfills and turning it into something useful right here in our community.

Same schedule. Real impact. Thanks for doing your part.

MLK Day won’t slow things down. Trash, recycling, and organics pickup will run on the normal schedule across Ventura County the week of January 18–24. Put all three carts curbside on your usual day, including your organics cart — food waste is collected every week, even if you don’t have yard waste. Keeping food waste out of landfills cuts methane and helps protect our environment. Thanks for doing your part.
