This pool pavilion and outdoor kitchen's highlighting feature is the swim up bar. To protect the structure from moisture exposure, posts are raised above the water and adorned with custom made post bases. Grooves under the roof panels hide the electrical wiring to the lights and appliances. Thoughtful design practices like that create luxurious home spaces that feel like a vacation in your own backyard.

With an established budget and a clear design plan in mind, the planning process required minimal refining. Curved hammer beam trusses were used throughout this timber frame home, with the bents forming perfect concentric circles from the entryway, to the great room, and on to the back patio.

To fully integrate these cedar tree trunks into the design of this timber frame home, they were first delivered to our shop to be worked into the prefabrication process. In our shop, the pieces were marked and measured to ensure that the frame and flooring would fit perfectly during installation and remain sturdy for years to come. The result is a unique architectural add to this timber lodge, adorned with carved bears in the cozy seating area.

Raised lower chord trusses were used throughout this home. These trusses feature a bottom chord that is elevated above the wall plates, which alters the internal forces of the truss. Square steel tube was used as the bottom chord in these trusses to improve the structural integrity of the timber frame.

Camp Arrowhead, a co-ed youth camp and retreat center located in Lewes, DE, completed a 10,000 sq. ft. dining hall in 2022. The 167 acre camp sits along the coastal waters and backs up to 400 acres of state park land.

Because of its location, the design had to account for more wind during the engineering process. Connections were reinforced with steel gusset plates, adding a decorative but functional element to the building.

Curved architecture plays a prominent role in the design of this private residence. A deep brick barrel ceiling crowns the kitchen, adorned with timber beams. The arched theme carries through the other spaces in the home, connected through the rafters and custom fireplace mantels with decorative hammered steel accents.
