🔨 Balza Construction & Remodeling is growing.

Earlier this year, we officially rebranded our construction division as Balza Construction & Remodeling-and it was about much more than changing our name and logo.

It was about representing the company we’ve grown into.

And with that growth comes an upleveling of our policies and pricing.

Beginning January 1, 2027, our labor rates, service-call pricing and several of our service policies will be changing.

Why?

Because Balza Construction & Remodeling isn’t a handyman company.

Can we still take care of smaller projects and repairs? Absolutely! But whether we’re completing a small repair or a major remodel, you’re hiring the same licensed and insured contractor.

That means continuing education and recertification, permits when required, building codes and regulations, higher insurance requirements, workers’ compensation, professional equipment and vehicles-and the responsibility that comes with putting the Balza name on our work.

When our crew pulls into your driveway, you’re paying for more than the time spent swinging a hammer. 🔨 You’re hiring the experience, knowledge, accountability and professional business behind the work.

We’re not walking away from smaller projects. We’re simply making sure our pricing reflects the professional standard we’re providing.

💙 Have a 2027 project in mind?

Projects contracted and secured with the required deposit by December 31, 2026 may be eligible to lock in our current 2026 labor pricing for work scheduled in 2027. Material pricing remains subject to supplier costs and availability.

IT’S DONE. 👏🏼🔨

What started as dirt and a vision is officially complete.

This project took a whole lot of holes, 2 concrete trucks, 2 lifts, countless man-hours, battling rain and weather delays, problem-solving, coordinating, building—and one hardworking crew.

And now… look at it. 😍

There’s something pretty incredible about standing back at the end of a project like this and remembering what the property looked like when we first showed up.

And if you’ve been wondering why you haven’t seen your estimate yet… this is it. 😂

While you may not always see what’s happening behind the scenes, our crew has been out in the field getting projects like this across the finish line. And a project of this size takes a lot of time, attention, coordination, and manpower.

We know there are estimates waiting. We know there are calls and emails to return. And we genuinely appreciate the patience of everyone who has been waiting on us while we worked to get this one completed.

Construction isn’t always pretty while it’s happening. There are muddy days, long days, weather delays, equipment everywhere, problems to solve and plans that have to adjust.

But eventually, all of those individual days become THIS.

A little transparency from us. ❤️🔨

Some of our recent posts have talked more openly about estimates, scheduling, communication, cancellations, and how we operate as a company.

They’re not meant to scare anyone away from working with us.

The truth is, we’re simply becoming more vocal about something that has always mattered to us: your time is valuable, and so is ours.

We don’t want to waste your time by sending someone out for an estimate when we already know our current schedule may not work for you. We don’t want to give unrealistic timelines just to secure a job. And we don’t want anyone feeling obligated to choose us simply because they’ve started the estimate process.

Sometimes we’re going to be the right contractor for your project.

Sometimes we won’t be.

And that’s okay.

We’re a family-owned company. We’re human. Our schedule changes. Projects change. New opportunities come in. We won’t always get every piece of communication perfect, but we’d rather be transparent about where things stand than tell someone what they want to hear and disappoint them later.

As Balza Construction & Remodeling grows, we’re getting more vocal about our processes, our boundaries, and the way we choose to do business.

Not everyone will agree with how we operate, and not everything we share will be received the way we intend it.

That’s okay too.

We believe transparency builds better working relationships. We believe expectations should be clear from the beginning. And we believe it’s okay for a customer and a contractor to realize they aren’t the right fit for each other—with no hard feelings.

At the end of the day, we want the same thing you do: a project built on good communication, realistic expectations, mutual respect, and quality work. ❤️🔨

A QUICK COURTESY REMINDER FROM YOUR CONTRACTOR 🔨

If you schedule an appointment with a contractor to discuss your project and, in the meantime, decide to hire someone else…please cancel your appointment.

We completely understand that homeowners get multiple estimates, compare contractors, change their minds, or decide to go in a different direction.

That’s part of business.

What’s frustrating is when an appointment stays on the schedule while we continue messaging, answering questions, preparing for your project, rearranging our workday, and trying to communicate with you… only to eventually find out you already hired someone else.

Our time matters too.

Contractors are coordinating active job sites, employees, materials, estimates, customers, and families. An appointment on our calendar means we’ve intentionally made space for your project.

You don’t owe us the job.

You don’t owe us an explanation.

But if you’ve chosen another contractor, a simple:

“Thank you for your time, but we’ve decided to move forward with someone else. You can cancel our appointment.”

is all it takes.

No hard feelings. No awkward conversation.

In fact, we appreciate the communication.

So, what happens when you request an estimate from Balza Construction & Remodeling? 🔨

We’ve been refining our estimate process, and we want to be transparent about what you can expect when you contact us about a project.

STEP 1: You reach out.

Before we schedule an in-person estimate, we’ll ask you to send us a few things:

📸 Photos of your current space
📐 The approximate size of the space/project
🔨 A description of what you’re looking to have done
💡 Inspiration photos or examples of what you’d like the finished project to look like

STEP 2: We talk realistic investment.

Before putting an in-person estimate on the calendar, we want to make sure your expectations and the realistic cost of the project are in the same ballpark.

Why?

Because if you’re expecting a bathroom remodel to cost $2,000 and the scope you’re describing is realistically closer to $15,000+, we would rather have that conversation before asking you to take time out of your day for an appointment.

The same goes for a deck you’re hoping will be $5,000 when the size, materials and design you’re requesting could put the project closer to $25,000.

That’s not meant to discourage you.

It’s meant to respect your time AND ours.

We’re a family-owned company. We have a family outside of work, an active project schedule, and other homeowners waiting for estimates who are ready to move forward with their projects.

Our in-person appointments require time—travel, walking through the project with you, discussing options, taking measurements, evaluating the scope, researching materials and preparing the estimate.

So yes, we qualify projects before scheduling that appointment.

And what if you’re getting multiple estimates?

We completely understand.

You SHOULD feel confident about the contractor you choose. Ask questions. Look at their work. Check their reputation. Make sure they’re insured. Understand what you’re getting for your investment.

But we also want to be upfront:

Balza Construction & Remodeling is not positioned to be the cheapest contractor.

If the deciding factor for your project is simply finding the lowest price, we’re probably not going to be the right fit—and that’s okay.

Our clients choose us because they’re looking at the bigger picture:

The next few days I’m at the Global Leadership Summit.

People often think construction is just about remodeling or building houses.

It’s not.

Everyone talks about supporting local businesses.

Very few people talk about the weight the owner carries.

Especially when that owner is a husband in construction.

He’s the first one awake and often the last one to sleep.

He’s responsible for every estimate.
Every job.
Every employee.
Every customer.
Every mistake.
Every weather delay.
Every material shortage.
Every piece of equipment that breaks.
Every dollar that comes in…
and every dollar that goes out.

He wonders…

What have we been up to?

This.

Over the last several weeks, our small 2–3 man crew has been hard at work bringing this project to life…one board, one truss, one day at a time.

Projects like this require long days, careful planning, and attention to every detail. We don’t believe in rushing quality just to move on to the next job.

If you’ve been waiting a little longer than normal for an estimate or for us to get to your project, this is why.

We’re incredibly grateful for every customer who’s been patient with us while we continue to build not only this project, but a reputation for doing things the right way.

We may not be the biggest crew in town…
