Leaf miner damage 👎🏼. Otherwise happy tomatillo plants. Removed the leaves and added a fly catcher to the garden area. Learned the hard way that fish emulsion fertilizer attracts flies 😡

Experimenting with terra cotta cups . Added a soaker drip, coconut coir and some organic mulch to help contain the moisture. I should probably add a few more plants to decrease the surface area of the soil. Started with 4 cups but ended up using 7. We’re in a bit of a wind zone so things dry up very quickly.

We win! 360 bulbs vs The Midway Deer Gang. My client is “lucky” enough to have deer use her yard as a daily hangout and after planting 360 bulbs, I went back the next day to find about 10 of them dug up but unharmed. I returned armed with temporary plastic fencing and mulch and it looks like it worked. It was a suspenseful winter! The area was filled with weeds and rubber rabbitbrush.

When is artificial turf the ideal solution? When you have a fair amount of shade, when you have dogs or have a mild slope. Gentle hills with artificial turf beats pushing a mower up a hill or chasing it down a hill! An absolute lifesaver if you have hills, shade and dogs! Growing grass under those 3 conditions is rough. The additional bonuses are the cost savings on irrigation and water conservation.
