We've recently welcomed a new service engineer to the team here at Wharfedale and we're already looking to bring on another one later in the year.

It's not growth for the sake of it. When your refrigeration or air conditioning goes down, the last thing you need is to be told someone will be with you in a few days. We want to keep showing up fast when it matters, and to do that properly, you need the right number of good people on the ground.

More hands means more capacity. More capacity means we can keep responding the way our customers expect us to quickly, and without cutting corners on the job itself.

We've got some good news to share.

We've just welcomed a 3rd year apprentice to the Wharfedale team, and we're genuinely made up about it.

For us, this isn't just filling a vacancy. It's the start of something we've wanted to do properly for a while now. Training the next generation of engineers, the right way, from the ground up. People who'll learn the trade the way it should be learned, hands-on, alongside experienced engineers who actually care about doing the job right.

We see this as a real investment in the business. And if all goes well, which we fully expect it to, this is just the beginning. We're hoping to bring on more apprentices over the coming years and build a proper training programme here at Wharfedale.

The refrigeration and air conditioning trade needs good engineers. We'd rather grow our own.

Every summer, the same thing happens.

The phones go mad. Emergency after emergency. Refrigeration down, stock at risk, businesses in a panic. And we do everything we can to get round everyone as fast as possible, but if we're being straight with you, the diary fills up fast.

The frustrating part? Most of it could've been avoided.

A lot of these breakdowns aren't bad luck. They're a worn seal that was flagged six months ago. A condenser that hadn't been cleaned in two years. Small things that turn into expensive, stressful things on the hottest week of the year.

We're always on the lookout for good refrigeration engineers in Yorkshire.

Not necessarily people actively job hunting, just good engineers who take pride in their work, turn up when they're supposed to, and actually give a toss about doing the job right.

We're a team of 10 qualified engineers based in Leeds, and we've been building this business since 2007 on one fairly simple idea: look after your customers, look after your people. Our engineers are City & Guilds qualified, F-Gas certified, and, probably more importantly, they seem to actually enjoy coming to work. We think that matters.

When a cellar cooler fails, you need someone who shows up when they say they will, and actually knows what they're doing when they get there.
