This massive, protected 130-year-old sycamore required careful planning, permitting, and specialized equipment for safe removal.

Our assessment found fungal fruiting bodies at the trunk and root crown, indicating potential decay and an elevated risk of whole-tree failure.

After obtaining the required permit, our crew safely dismantled the tree using rigging and a 50-ton crane while protecting the surrounding property.

Our team recently removed this 130-year-old sycamore tree in Sierra Madre, a protected tree that required a permit before removal could take place.

During our assessment, we discovered fungal fruiting bodies at the trunk and root crown, which can be associated with decay organisms and structural deterioration. Given the tree’s massive size, age, and evidence of decay, it presented an elevated risk of whole-tree failure.

After evaluating the tree and obtaining the required permit, we safely and carefully removed the tree by rigging and a 50 ton crane to help protect the surrounding property and everyone nearby.
