Don't let the insurance company decide who will make the repairs on your home.

You should also check your insurance to see if you are forced to use the insurance companies own, pre-selected repair vendors - they call it "managed repair" and they manage to charge a lot less for the repairs to your home. Coincidence? Or failure to place emphasis on quality control and making all necessary repairs to your home? If you have a policy with an insurer that takes away your right to decide what repairs will be made and who will be making them on your own home - you may be in for a surprise should you ever have damage that requires you to make a claim.
