Dr. Stephen Dicke, Mississippi’s Southern Chapter representative, submitted an article that he had written once he saw this sweet baby that our amazing team found on a job.

We are truly honored (and honestly a little blown away) that the ISA Southern Chapter featured our Mississippi Kite nest discovery in their Summer 2026 issue.
What started as a routine job turned into something special when we found a nest we initially thought belonged to a bald eagle. After observing the parents’ long, narrow wings and black tail, experts with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks confirmed it was actually a Mississippi Kite — a protected species.
Out of respect for the young kite still in the nest, we will not return to that tree until it has fledged. MDWFP plans to check on it again at the end of July.
Thank you, ISA Southern Chapter, and Dr. Steve Dicke, for sharing our story. Moments like this remind us why careful observation and respect for wildlife matter in the work we do every day.
