NextGen Cattle Company

NextGen Cattle Company NextGen Cattle Co. of Paxico Kansas is nestled in the eastern foot of the historic flint hills. Vast landscape and grassland make up much of the Ranch.

Established in 2016, the founders of NextGen Cattle Co. have used extensive research by universities and experts, to create the foundation of a diverse and sustainable seed stock herd. NextGen specializes in Beefmaster Cattle. NextGen is building a foundation seed stock operation, based on the principles of strong maternal influences, in addition to a primary focus on terminal traits for performan

ce. NextGen’s selection process in herd sires and damns was based on strong EPD information using the $M and $ T as the measuring tool to quality and direction. Many of NextGen’s female donor cows have been selected from longtime breeders in the Beefmaster breed from several regions, Kentucky, Mississippi, Texas, and Oklahoma to name a few. NextGen’s continued focus and direction to work with the Beefmasters breeders association along with several historic cow herds, is to create the most performance driven set of Bulls the breed has ever seen. NextGen genetics will have power, phenotype and balance to perform in any geography of the United States and abroad. It is NextGen’s belief and passion, that the cow herd of the future and the Next Generation will be based on sustainability, longevity, performance and profitability. Heterosis will continue to be a focus of breeders of all kinds in the years to come. NextGen and our beefmaster genetics are driven to build one breed of animal that excels in all categories of the industry, from the ranch , feedlot and to the consumer using heterosis. NextGen will be using state of the art technology in developing bulls and heifers at our NextGen Cattlo Co heifer ranch and feed facility in Allen Kansas. Using new technology in the Grow Safe system to develop bulls and heifers using RFI ( Residual Feed Intake) to determine efficient genetics. Our selection process of our bulls and heifers will be determined by this criteria. It will create an offering of our genetics that we will know from data, that will perform on all levels to create profitability for the commercial cattleman. NextGen is excited to be leading the trail in new and exciting methods of breeding and performance for years to come. We believe the Beefmaster breed is the best breed in

Market after NWS

Bottom line, not much has changed

Markets met this week’s NWS announcement with a limit up close in Feeder Cattle futures (daily range was about $17/cwt). There will continue to be some new developments that will undoubtedly have price impacts. However, with the event now in the rear view mirror the market will look ahead. Tight feeder cattle supply, profitable feedyard closeouts, tight fat cattle supply, improved grazing conditions, falling corn prices, and a steeply discounted fed cattle board are key price inputs. On balance, the NWS event removed some uncertainty and that’s never a bad thing for markets.

Rain on the way

Better moisture adds support to market already in short supply

The first half of June is forecast to bring much needed rain across the southern and southeastern US. A quick look at the drought map says these producers need it, and also makes you think it’s a pretty deep hole to dig out of. Will this rain event be a drought buster? Time will tell.

One thing we do know is that this will bring more chatter about heifer retention and herd rebuilding. It will impact placements in some smaller ways. Dry weather moved some May placements into April for sure, so will some cattle spend more time on grass and come later in the summer than normal? Supplies are still tight so in any case, improved competition from grazing should be supportive to the market into summer.

More than just the meal that brings your family together, celebrates the animals we care for.

At the heart of it all are the cattle. Every one of them is part of a larger purpose—raised with attention, respect, and responsibility. Years of genetic considerations and animal husbandry come together to provide a superior product that feeds the world.

There’s pride in caring for something that ultimately feeds families across the country and beyond.

If we want the cattle industry to survive, we have to give the next generation a reason to love it.

Let them ride in the truck.
Let them help feed.
Let them ask questions.
Let them make mistakes.
Let them fall in love with the lifestyle the same way many of us did.

Because someday the gates, the pastures, the families, and the traditions we care about so deeply will be placed in their hands.

And the best thing we can pass down isn’t just good cattle — it’s a love and respect for the beef business itself.
