🌱 SAVE THIS for your August garden game plan!
August isn't just back-to-school month around here — it's back-to-gardening month. 🎒➡️🌿
Here's the part that surprises people: it's actually backwards from what you'd think.
🌡️ RIGHT NOW: Start your cool season seeds (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collards, basil) — but INDOORS or in full shade. They will straight up wilt and burn if you put them outside in this heat. Think of it as a little nursery phase before they ever touch your garden bed.
🌙 MID-TO-LATE AUGUST: Once the nights finally start cooling down a bit, THAT'S when your warm season transplants (fall tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, and more) go outside.
Two phases, one month. Save this graphic so you don't have to remember all of it. 📌
* = start from seed | ** = start from transplant
Organic gardening in Houston doesn't follow the calendar you'll find online — our seasons run on their own logic. That's exactly why I built the Vibrant Garden Experience — 6 weeks to help you skip the years of guesswork I went through. Coming back this fall, waitlist link in bio. 🌱
