Love historical restoration work. Currently working in Paterson NJ at Great Falls with MPG (Masonry Preservation Group) for my union Local 5. This was the first day on the job, and the bones of the building went up fast!

While out and about in Philly this weekend, supporting my wife's plant business ( ) I found . This and many other sustainable building materials, were all over the place inside this shop, does a wonderful job of incorporating community, sustainability, and growth. Another little piece of history, right in my own backyard. The Arney's Mount Friends Meetinghouse & Burial Grounds, was built in 1775 by Samuel Smith. Making the building 1 year older than the country. Unfortunately, after fire damage much of the building had to be rebuilt, but the cobblestone wall surrounding the property has stood the test of time.

The old saying goes; 'a stitch in time, saves nine'. Take care of a little project now, before it becomes a big problem later. Bricks are one of only a few building materials that can stand the test of time. That can work with nature, and become part of the landscape. Bricks are also one of the most sustainable building materials we have. Architecture and nature working together, it's a powerful thing.

This is after some careful demolition of the brick that could not be salvaged. I try to reuse any material I can from the original design. Then, put it back together like a puzzle.
