The details are DAMNING:
Trump just endorsed a chain of "Freedom Fuel" gas stations. It turns out much of the network is tied to businessmen repeatedly accused of fraud, theft, unpaid debts, and misconduct.
Donald Trump and his White House couldn't stop promoting the new Freedom Fuel Network. Trump praised it on Truth Social. The White House filmed customers cheering outside stations draped in American flags. The entire rollout was presented as proof that Trump had delivered cheaper gas to Americans.
It's all been exposed. It's run by the kind of people Trump loves to surround himself with: grifters.
According to an AP investigation, much of the 25-station Freedom Fuel Network is linked to Shamikh and Syed Kazmi, two brothers with a long record of lawsuits and court judgments.
Earlier this year, a federal judge ordered the brothers to pay more than $600,000 after ruling they unlawfully took over 230,000 gallons of fuel from a supplier. Court filings alleged tanker trucks removed the fuel over ten days after the supplier had cut them off. The supplier says it still hasn't been paid.
Another lawsuit ended with a $380,000 judgment after 7-Eleven accused Syed Kazmi of "dishonest, unethical, immoral" conduct while operating one of its franchises. Court filings also described unsanitary conditions, rodent infestations, trash problems, and missing cigarette inventory worth tens of thousands of dollars.
One of Shamikh Kazmi's companies was also held in contempt in a BP trademark case after continuing to display BP branding despite court orders requiring it to be removed. A judge ultimately authorized U.S. Marshals to accompany BP workers to take the signs down.
Despite all of that, the White House acknowledged it held discussions with people behind the Freedom Fuel Network before Trump publicly promoted it.
For a White House that constantly promises to "drain the swamp," this is an extraordinary look at who was standing behind one of its biggest July Fourth publicity campaigns. The patriotic branding made for great television. The court records tell a very different story.
If it sounds too good to be true, it's too good to be true.
Just like everything else he promised you, MAGA.
