We decided the best way to fight the winter blues was to get out and see if we could survive a night in 0 degrees. Lo and behold, we did but it was a good motivator to really insulate the van well. And they said you can’t get anywhere in a 2wd Astro…

Making progress on the Astro Van build. Got the floor framing done, insulation installed and subfloor cut to match the contours of the van! Next steps are to box out the wheel wells and begin framing the walls! Making progress…

You don’t need a 4wd truck or a fully built van to have a fun camping vehicle! (I’m still trying to convince myself while I am without a cabin truck.) Who else is coming up with creative solutions to camp/utilize their every day vehicles?

It’s Van Build’n week! I know I’ve promised some van building content and the ol guac box has been a little neglected. The goal for this van is going to be a budget build that is fairly simple, but ticks all the boxes for a simple adventure van. This is a learning experience for me. I love building the tiny cabins but building in a van is new and so there is a bit of a learning curve there. Im excited to see how much I can knock out this week! Follow along and please leave a comment for what you’d like to see incorporated in the van!

I've avoided posting this for a while, but now that the Tacoma has been gone for a couple weeks, I figured I should post something.

Unfortunately on our way home from an incredible trip among the fall colors of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, a driver pulled out straight in front of us. We are happy no one was hurt, and we were able to drive the rest of the way home, but the Tacoma was totaled. We didn't let it ruin our trip, but obviously it was disappointing.

It's a little embarrassing to say but I still get a bit emotional when I watch one of my vehicles leave for the last time on a tow truck. I invest a lot of time into my vehicles and they become something personal to me. Often an artistic expression of sorts. Anyone who knows me knows anything I drive is usually...interesting...

We trust this old Toyota to carry us 8 hours away from home, through mountain roads, safe from harm on highways, and then we sleep in the bed at night. There's some sort of a relationship between man (or woman) and machine and that makes it hard to see them go. Anyways, its fun to remember the fun we had with the old black Tacoma. In the meantime, I have been bitten by the Tacoma bug and with an insurance check in hand, will be scouring the web for the next. Stay tuned and let me know what you think should be the next Wildbound vehicle!

Well, what is there to say other than “You win some you lose some.” 😂 After a slightly rainy but super fun weekend camping with family, the lower ball joint decided it had had enough and sheared off with no warning on our drive home. The entire passenger side wheel ripped off and brought everything attached to it with it. It was a little scary, but we are so thankful it happened right after we got off the highway and were only going about 15mph. It could have been a lot worse, so this is my PSA to replace your ball joints on old trucks! It’s all part of the fun I suppose, and now the cabin truck has lots of new suspension parts just in time for fall camping season!

The live edge Black Walnut Fold-Down countertop is still one of my favorite features of our first Pull-Behind Cabin. It gives the cabin a raw yet refined feel. What do you guys think of the live edge wood accents in tiny cabins?
