🌴 Stages of Building a Home in Florida: From Design to Moving In
Building your own home is an exciting yet complex process, especially when dealing with another region that has its own climate and legal nuances. To keep the construction process from turning into chaos, it is important to clearly understand every step.
At Delta Max, we manage projects turnkey and support clients at every stage. Here are the major milestones of building a home in Florida:
1️⃣ Design and Permitting. Everything starts with an idea and blueprints. The architect creates a design tailored to your preferences and strict Florida codes, after which the documents are submitted for approval to local authorities. Obtaining permits sometimes takes time, but it ensures the construction is fully legal.
2️⃣ Site Preparation and Foundation. After clearing the lot, the foundation is poured (typically a monolithic concrete slab). All underground utilities, such as water pipes, sewage lines, and electrical conduits, are also laid at this stage.
3️⃣ Framing and Roofing (Dry-In). The most impressive stage: walls go up (concrete blocks or reliable framing are popular in Florida), the roof truss system is installed, and the roofing is put in place. Once the roof is complete and the house is protected from rain, the project moves into the interior finishing stage.
💡 Tip from Delta Max: Working with a reliable general contractor saves you from having to supervise dozens of workers yourself and deal with inspectors.
