Role Description The Millwork Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Peoria, IL. This role is responsible for reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for custom millwork and cabinetry projects. Day-to-day tasks include performing material takeoffs, calculating labor and installation costs, obtaining vendor and subcontractor quotes, and preparing detailed proposals and bid packages. The Millwork Estimator will coordinate with project managers, engineers, and production teams to clarify scope, value-engineer solutions, and ensure estimates align with manufacturing capabilities. The role also involves maintaining estimating data, updating pricing, and supporting client and architect communications related to scope, budget, and schedule.
Qualifications
Ability to interpret architectural and construction documents, including blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
Proficiency in millwork or woodworking estimating, including material takeoffs, labor calculations, and cost analysis.
Experience with estimating or construction management software and strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other office tools.
Knowledge of wood species, hardware, finishes, joinery, and fabrication methods used in architectural millwork.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with architects, builders, designers, and internal teams.
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines, prioritize work, and maintain organized project documentation.
Background in construction, millwork, cabinetry, or related trades; technical or vocational training in construction or drafting is beneficial.
Experience in commercial and/or residential interior build-outs, fixtures, or casework is a plus.
