Revelation 5:11-12 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang:
"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of my favorite songs is" Worthy is the Lamb" sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. If you close your eyes while listening to them sing, I wonder if it is a small representation of the multitude of angels described singing in Revelation 5?

Thank-You for the cross Lord!

Rescue - to save someone from a dangerous or distressing situation

On October 3, 1993, two United States MH-60L Black Hawk Helicopters were shot down by militia and armed civilian fighters in Mogadishu, Somalia. At the time the U.S. was working to halt widespread starvation in the region. An operation to secure and recover the crews of both choppers, was carried out by various elite special forces. This operation continued into the next day, October 4 in hopes to save American servicemen.

God cares about people. He rescued the Israelites from the hand of the Egyptians, David from the lion and the bear, Daniel from the Lion's Den. And the list goes on.

As much as we like to hear a story of someone being rescued, we sometimes forget that the greatest rescue mission took place when Jesus came to earth. When He was nailed to the cross. When He rose from the dead. He was there to rescue you and me. There is no way we can rescue ourselves.

I am thankful today for Christ coming and dying for me.

Are you among the list of those who God has rescued? If not, today would be a great day to have your name added! Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Colossians 1:13-14 For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (NIV)

WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

An interesting question to ask. We sometimes think we know what we would do in a given situation. Truth be told, until we find ourselves in a challenging scenario, we really don't know.

A little over 2000 years ago Jesus was eating the evening meal with his disciples. He knew that the days ahead were His last days on earth before He would give His life for the payment for my sins and yours.

A few times I have entertained the question what would I do if I knew I had only a few days to live. Why doesn't God typically give us a heads up when our time on earth is about over?
Did Jesus have to change His plans at the last moment to account for his upcoming death on the cross? I am thankful that John describes some of the events preceding the death of the only perfect person.

I cannot imagine washing the feet of men who would be scattered, one who would deny he ever knew him, and the one who would give him up to His enemies. If the other examples of Jesus loving people in the Bible were removed, these verses paint a heart changing picture of a wonderful, merciful Savior.

God tells us through His servant Moses, in Psalm 90:12 "Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." If we really think about it, we should be living like we have just a few minutes left on this earth. If we start living that way, what would you do differently tonight or tomorrow?

I am very thankful for the days the Lord has given me. Hopefully my wasted days are becoming less and the days full of worship and service are taking their place.

I am even more grateful that the Creator and Savior of all men has shown me my sin and paid for that sin with His own blood.

The Six Foot Rule(r)

Uncle Ambrose told me that one of the first tools I would need is a six foot rule(r). Don't think I knew what it was, but I soon found out. He would call out measurements like 8 and 11/16. What is that?

The six foot rule is back. It is now the distance I should stay away from you. I am thankful for the medical professionals that are working around the clock and loving people. I believe God is using them for our good. He has also used them to successfully treat my wife's cancer. I am thankful for their God given wisdom and understanding of the intricate human body. I also know that health and healing ultimately come from the Designer and Creator.

The words "it is not good for the man to be alone" and "let us not give up meeting together" sound like good ideas. I am not sure how the Creator and Sustainer teaches us the lessons we need to learn, but I am guessing that in the near future the church parking lot will be full on Sunday morning. I hope we will not be slow in learning the next lesson.

April 5, 2020.

I think this is the first time I have attempted to post something on Facebook. From time to time my good wife has posted things for our business. I recently read that companies that advertise during down times do well. Sounds like a good idea, I thought. After some consideration, I have decided there may be words better used to attempt to convey how God has been, and is working in my life.

I was planning on 30 days of brief comments and have already gone past my self-imposed word limit. Enough said for introduction.

In the past months the world, our country, and Montgomery County, PA has and is experiencing a health crisis that most of us have never experienced. I began to fall into the trap of listening more to the media than considering the one and only true source of wisdom, God’s Word, the Bible. Without a solid foundation, our lives are shaky at best. Resting on the promises of the Bible allows us to continue to live each day with a godly perspective. No Fear.

A little over two thousand years ago, one of Jesus’s disciples, John, records some of the events on the day we call Palm Sunday in John chapter 12. John tells us that the great crowd met Jesus shouting “Hosana”, meaning Help, or Save or Rescue us. I believe their hopes were that Jesus would save them from their present circumstances.

Many around the world today are hoping that we will be saved from the pandemic called COVID-19. God can certainly do this. I am, sometimes impatiently waiting for this to be over, to be saved from the health crisis and the resulting affects to my world.

God answered the shouts of the Jerusalem crowd two thousand years ago, but not the way the people envisioned on that Palm Sunday. His reply came shortly after in the true, everlasting Salvation available for anyone who calls on the name of the Lord. I am reminded that probably often my shouts for what I want are often shortsighted in God’s plan. I am thankful that He listens, but does what is best.
