You may not need a new house.

You may just need the house you already have to catch up with the way you live.

More room where you need it.
A bedroom that actually feels like a retreat.
A bathroom that works better.
Storage that makes sense.
And a new view from every angle!

That’s what an addition can do.

It doesn’t just add square footage.

It can change the way you move through your home, the way you use your space, and the way your home works for your family.

And when the time comes to sell, you may appreciate the investment all over again.

For 35 years, Cici made this kitchen work.

She learned to work around the awkward layout and found ways to make do with limited access. But spending that many years in the same space, she also knew exactly what isn’t working.

For Cici, that meant a kitchen that made some of the things she loved doing harder than they needed to be - especially canning the fruits and vegetables she grew at home.

She wasn’t looking for a kitchen just because it was time for something new.

She wanted a kitchen that made sense for her life.
The space was opened up and reworked to create better flow and easier access. But some of the most meaningful parts of the kitchen were already hers.

She had collected vintage stained glass windows over the years and saved them for the right place. Now, they have a place of their own, built into a custom cabinet and displayed as part of the kitchen.
That’s what makes a space feel like home.

It’s not just about having new cabinets, countertops, or a different layout. It’s about creating a space around the way you actually live and making room for the things that have meaning to you.

After 35 years, this kitchen finally works the way she always needed it to.

And it still feels like hers.

How can we help you re-imagine a kitchen that is uniquely you in both beauty and function?

Stop the Pool to House Insanity with a Pool House

Every summer it's the same thing. Wet feet through the kitchen. Towels on every chair in the house. Someone yelling "shut the door, you're letting bugs in!" And the kids treat the backyard-to-bathroom sprint like it's an Olympic event.

A pool house fixes all of it. A place to change. A place to stash the floats, noodles, and forty beach towels instead of the hallway closet. A place for guests to hang out without turning your living room into a wet towel situation.

We build them to actually go with the house, not just sit next to it. Storage, a changing area, sometimes a bathroom, sometimes a spot to grill and hang out poolside all summer long.

If your pool's been asking for its own space, we can take a look and talk through what makes sense for your yard.

On Time. In Budget.

Does YOUR pool need its own house?

All your pool chemicals, equipment, toys, need to move into their own place.

Put all those wet bathing suits, towels, and changing areas to where they belong - outside - with the pool.

If you've ever owned a pool, you know the excitement comes with a few challenges.

Wet footprints through the house. Kids running inside every few minutes. Towels, pool toys, and coolers end up everywhere except where they belong.

That's what started this project.

This homeowner needs a backyard oasis that works as well as it looks.

They planned a place where family and friends could gather, where everything they need is just a few steps away, and where they can spend more time enjoying the pool instead of running back and forth to the house.

We're still in the building phase, but with the electric going it today, it's easy to see everything is coming together.

Every beam, every post, and every step is part of a plan. Taking the time to build it right now means they'll have a space their family can enjoy for years to come.

We'll be sharing more progress as this pool house takes shape.

If your pool needs its own house, we'd be happy to talk through your ideas and help you decide what makes the most sense for the way you live.

Don't Walk Away from the Ugly House

Every family has a vision of the home they want to raise their children in. The challenge is that the homes everyone falls in love with usually come with a price tag to match.

This Painesville family looked past what everyone else saw.

They didn't see worn paneling, stained carpet, dated finishes, and years of neglect. They saw a home with a solid foundation and roof, a safe neighborhood, nearby schools, shopping, freeway access, and room for their family to grow.

For many buyers, this basement would have been the moment they walked away.

It was dark. It smelled. It felt outdated. The layout wasn't doing the space any favors.

But those are cosmetic problems, not structural ones.

When you learn to separate what a home is today from what it could become, opportunities start appearing where others only see work.

Buying below market value left this family with a limited remodeling budget, so every decision mattered. There wasn't room for wasted materials, unnecessary demolition, or expensive surprises.

That's where project management makes all the difference.

The ultimate goal is a beautifully remodeled home. But first, we work with families to build a strategy. We look at your budget, your timeline, and your long-term goals, then prioritize improvements that deliver the biggest impact first.

The result?

A bright, comfortable basement that became usable living space instead of wasted square footage. The project stayed on schedule, respected the family's budget, and transformed an overlooked room into part of the home they imagined from the beginning.

Sometimes the best home for your family isn't the one that's move-in perfect.

Sometimes it's the one everyone else overlooked.

If you've found a house with great potential but aren't sure how to make it work, James Martin Contractor Services can help you see what's possible, create a plan that fits your budget, and help you move into your new home on schedule.

Same House, Different View

This home no longer hides behind bushes. It is stately as it now proudly puts its best face forward.

When the bushes were first planted, they didn't cover the face of this beautiful Mentor home. But over the years, as the bushes grew, the view from the house to the curb was blocked, and the view from the curb to the home became less appealing. More importantly, the space where the bushes were was unusable.

The homeowner has dogs and needed a space for them to roam freely in the front yard. The covered front porch with railings and a gate serves several purposes.

Curb appeal aside, homeowner and pups can freely enjoy the front yard from the porch, while soaking in the neighborhood (and driveway) view from the front windows.

This space now functions in multiple ways, and has a higher appeal if it ever goes on the market.

If you're thinking about changing the view of your home (and the view from it), let's match your needs to your wants.

This roofing job was for the birds... literally.

We're happy to share that the final bird enclosure at Penitentiary Glen Reservation has now been completed with a new sloped roof. 🐦

These enclosures are home to rescued birds that cannot return to the wild. The previous flat roofs could collect rainwater and wild bird droppings, creating conditions that increased the risk of Avian Influenza. By replacing them with sloped roofs, rainwater now runs off instead of pooling, helping protect the birds that call Penitentiary Glen home.

It was an honor to be trusted with a project that helps protect local wildlife while supporting one of Northeast Ohio's favorite parks.

The next time you visit Penitentiary Glen, stop by and congratulate the winged residents on their new roofs.

Whether it's a bird enclosure, pavilion, gazebo, or another specialty roofing project, we're committed to delivering quality craftsmanship, on time and on budget.

From Outdated to Outstanding. Built for Maximum Return.

Where should you spend and where should you save?

The difference between a profitable renovation and an expensive one isn't doing more. It's making the right improvements that buyers and renters notice.

From a complete kitchen renovation to updated living spaces, fresh finishes, and curb appeal, every improvement was chosen to increase marketability while keeping the project on schedule and within budget.

We partner with property investors, house flippers, landlords, and property management companies to deliver renovations that make financial sense—not just cosmetic ones.

Beautiful homes attract attention. Smart renovations protect your profit.
