🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸
Today, as America celebrates its 250th birthday, we’re reminded that our nation’s greatest strength has always been its people.
Over the past 250 years, our understanding of wellness has evolved, and so has the architecture that supports it.
• 1776 – Communities emphasized cleanliness, responsibility, and healthy living as the foundation for a strong society.
• 1876 – As America industrialized, architecture responded with better sanitation, fresh air, natural light, and public parks that improved quality of life.
• 1976 – The wellness movement expanded beyond treating illness to promoting holistic health, inspiring biophilic design and environments centered on human experience.
• 2026 – Today, we recognize that wellness is about far more than healthcare. It includes physical, emotional, social, environmental, and community well-being. Through Designing Wellness™, we create spaces that are regenerative, resilient, and designed to help people thrive.
As we look toward America’s next 250 years, we believe architecture has an even greater responsibility - to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and improve human well-being.
Happy Fourth of July from all of us at PMBA Architects!
