A red pine salvage sale we just completed. We row thinned this stand 8 years ago. At that time there was none to litte hard wood rengeration. Mother nature seeded herself back in nicley. The high winds the spring, blew over many rows of red pine . Being mecahical, and cut to lenght. We where able to leave a very light foot print on the site. Not damaging the hard wood regenration. We where also able to utlize a tea cup size landing, to minimize cost and extra ground disturbance . A large majority of the red pine was slavaged for utility poles, and the rest was pulped for paper production.
