As with every year I am once again reminding anyone with a chimney it is a good idea to have a cap installed if you don't already have one. The chimney swifts will be flying back in soon and if you have already had them visit your chimney in past years they may be back. If you go on line and type in chimney swifts you can find a lot of information and videos of these birds. You can also find plans to build a place other than your chimney for them to go into. These birds eat hundreds of mosquitoes in a day so they are useful to have around but they do create a lot of noise in the confined space of your chimney. And don't forget they are Federally Protected so you will be stuck with them from about April through September. Caps not only keep the swifts out but will also keep your neighborhood squirrels, raccoons and other birds from getting in.

I know on a beautiful day like today and with many more to come that you are not thinking about your chimney. Sometime around April-May we get a visit from a bird known as a chimney swift. These birds are federally protected and nest inside chimneys thus the name. The birds are not dangerous as a matter of fact they actually help keep down the mosquito population as that is what they eat. The only real problem they create is that when the young start learning to fly most people say they sound like rattle snakes in your chimney. They are usually in your chimney from April-May until September. If you do not want these birds in your chimney please check your caps. If you do not have a cap give us a call for pricing. Once they are in there as I stated these birds are federally protected so we would not be able to do anything until they are gone if they do get in. If you do get them we can offer a few suggestions for the noise.

We are doing an inspection/sweep special from March 1, 2013 to May 31, 2013 - $10.00 off. We know now that spring is approaching the last thing on your mind is getting ready for next winter but if you take care of your chimney (wood burning, insert, or furnace) now, when winter does come you won't have to worry about taking care of it at the last minute. We will also be doing $10.00 off caps and crowns at the same time as this is the time of year that you get Chimney Swifts and others of God's little creatures visiting you through an open chimney.
