High gloss starts long before the spray gun.

Every flute, every edge, every pass matters—because what you don’t fix here gets amplified under gloss.

No shortcuts, no forgiveness.

Just time, pressure, and precision.

High gloss at this scale leaves no room for error.

Every panel must be perfectly flat. Every edge razor sharp. Every reflection intentional.

In this kitchen — and throughout the home — we finished all of the oak and high-gloss elements, balancing warmth and precision. The white oak introduces depth and natural movement, while the lacquered gloss surfaces deliver a clean, glass-like presence that amplifies light and sharpens the architecture.

True high gloss isn’t just shine — it’s control.

Substrate prep. Film build. Environment. Ex*****on.
When everything aligns, the result is seamless, sleek, and undeniably luxurious.

This powder bath is a study in restraint and depth — We fumed the oak to activate the tannins naturally—no pigment, no tricks—just chemistry and patience. The goal wasn’t to force a color, but to pull depth out of the material itself, keeping the grain open, honest, and alive.

Fuming gives you variation you can’t fake. Subtle shifts board to board, light catching the pores differently, edges softening with time. That’s the beauty of this process—it rewards restraint and precision.

The result is a finish that feels grounded, timeless, and intentional. This is craftsmanship first, aesthetics second—and that order matters.

This fumed white oak master bath suite and vestibule is nearing completion. As the rest of the home comes together, I wanted to share a look at the finishing in progress.

We used a combination of ammonia fuming and dyes throughout the residence to achieve a rich, fully transparent coloration of the white oak—accelerating the natural aging process without the use of pigments. Ammonia fuming is a centuries-old finishing technique that reacts with the tannins in the wood itself, creating depth and tonal variation that can’t be replicated with conventional stains.

Here, the client opted for a more restrained fume, allowing the character, grain, and natural variation of the oak to remain front and center. The result is subtle, layered, and entirely bespoke—unique to this material and this space.

More to come as this project wraps up!
