Finally got old Tom framed today. I’m not sure if this is oak or if it’s some type of maple it’s a remnant I found in the bowels of the shop and I thought it was pretty so I made a frame. Now he has a permanent at home.

I designed and built this walnut coffee table to go with the entertainment center from a couple of weeks ago. It features similar art deco design with staggered shelving, and rounded trim. For added sleekness, I did a waterfall design on the top transition to the back. It emphasized the continuing grain on the walnut.

So the Barnes collection has now extended to the second generation. This walnut entertainment center is 6 foot long , 25 inches tall and 13 inches deep . It features hand turned legs and a 1” rounded edge profile. It is sort of an art deco style.

This is my first attempt at wildlife. I wanted to make sure I left myself plenty of room for improvement. Mission accomplished, but I had a lot of fun doing this and anticipate many more attempts.

Had about 10 minutes of downtime so with the help of a good friend of mine, Byron, I worked on developing some tools that I’ve seen someone use on the Internet. They’re designed to lift and give kind of a 3-D effect to the pattern. This is the first attempt at using them and I kind of like the look .
we’ll have to do some more experimenting.
