What does a building designed for discovery look like?

At the University of Pennsylvania, the Physical Sciences Building is designed to bring disciplines, people, and ideas together. The 325,000-square-foot complex will create a new home for Physics and Astronomy, Mathematics, and Earth and Environmental Science, combining advanced research and teaching environments with spaces that encourage collaboration across traditional academic boundaries.

Flexible laboratories are adaptable spaces that are equipped to meet future scientific research needs, while classrooms, maker spaces, a science library, and a 120-seat colloquium auditorium support learning at every scale.

At its heart, a large first-floor commons will serve as an academic town square. Nearby, a two-story lobby provides ample daylight and visually connects the building’s interior to the surrounding landscape.

Designed by CO Architects, the Physical Sciences Building creates a flexible new nexus for the next generation of scientific discovery at Penn.

At Deborah Heart and Lung Center Heart & Lung Center, the surrounding New Jersey Pinelands helped shape an interior environment rooted in nature, comfort, and care.

Inside the Olsen Family Patient Care Pavilion, EwingCole’s interior design team drew inspiration from the colors and forms of the local landscape. A palette of blues and oranges recalls blueberry fields at sunrise while helping patients and visitors navigate the building. Expansive windows connect 36 private inpatient suites to views of the wooded campus, and organic forms carry through spaces like the sculptural greeter nurse station.

That connection to nature begins at the entrance with a living green wall and extends even to spaces designed specifically for staff. A bright, tropical staff lounge offers caregivers a place to recharge away from the clinical environment.
Together, these elements create a healthcare setting that considers how patients, families, and staff experience the space throughout their day.

What if one of the most highly controlled building types could also become one of the most sustainable?

United Therapeutics Corporation’s Warp 10 is putting that idea to the test. Now nearing completion, the first-of-its-kind cGMP manufacturing facility uses mass timber at a scale and in an environment where few have gone before.

The 196,000-square-foot facility in Research Triangle Park brings pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratories, warehousing, and workplace functions under one roof. Using mass timber in a highly controlled manufacturing environment is highly unconventional, but not impractical.

The solution combines green steel and concrete with mass timber to create a hybrid structural system that dramatically reduces embodied carbon.

The approach extends to the building’s operations. More than 3,000 rooftop solar panels, combined with an adjacent solar field, are expected to offset approximately half of Warp 10’s annual energy consumption.

The result pushes mass timber into new territory and challenges long-held assumptions about what a large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility can be.

The New York Giants have announced plans to expand their football operations headquarters with a new performance-focused facility. The project will transform the Quest Diagnostics Training Center with new training, recovery, wellness, and team spaces that support the future of the organization.

The Giants have enlisted EwingCole and Natoli Construction to design and construct a significant expansion of the team’s training headquarters. The project includes approximately 93,500 square feet of new construction and 46,000 square feet of renovations.

Together, these enhancements will transform the facility to better serve the evolving needs of players, coaches, and staff. The project is expected to be completed in advance of the 2028 season.

For most fans, and the Argentinian and Spanish men’s national teams, the 2026 FIFA World Cup final began with kickoff. For EwingCole, it began in 2020.

Beginning with a feasibility study, we spent years developing engineering solutions that would satisfy FIFA’s rigorous requirements while preserving everything that makes MetLife Stadium one of the NFL’s premier venues.

As demand for research and manufacturing space continues to grow, historic buildings are proving they can support some of the world’s most advanced scientific work. Thoughtful renovations can preserve a building’s character while accommodating the complex infrastructure, flexibility, and performance required for modern biotechnology.

The Golf Clubhouse, designed by the EwingCole Team, has earned a Merit Award in the Civic/Cultural category from and was also recognized with a 2026 Design Award at the Joint Engineer Training Conference & Expo. These honors celebrate thoughtful design in service of the federal built environment and the power of collaboration.

Designed for the and the U.S. Military Academy, the 14,000-square-foot clubhouse provides a welcoming home for Army Golf while supporting the Academy’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation mission. The facility brings together hospitality, recreation, and community spaces in a design that embraces the surrounding Hudson Valley landscape through natural materials, expansive views, and sustainable strategies.
