Same house and plan from previous post refinishing floors. We ran into a sanding and time issue when attempting to refinish the attic floor - some good melted and dried under the carpet causing the removal to be extremely difficult, compromising our deadline. We pivoted to a waterproof and pad for the floors and steps, using stairnose and quarter round to finish our end pieces, painting the risers white to finish the stairs.

...remove carpet from floors & stairs, using drum & finish sander - 3 passes (grit 24-100-150) - sand all hardwood floors, two coats of sealer and 2 coats of finisher (no in between sanding required), lastly mop with a textured mop after 24 hours... done! First time using floor products. They are expensive as hell, but the results are undeniably good. The bona products also allowed me to shorten my work load. Happy with the results!

With the help of Do Right And Kill Everything, we ripped these exterior steps up to replace the rotted right stair stringer. Removed risers and treads and one banister, took out bad stringer and threw a fresh jawn in there. After leveling, re-installed the risers and treads and banister.

I removed 2 double hung windows, re-framed the window opening and installed 2 single hung windows with trim on both sides... all before 1pm. What did you do today?

From that to this...

Last, but not least for my client's backyard fence and retaining wall renovation... folding staircase! Halfway through the job, i got to thinking... what good is this fire backyard gonna be if you can fully use it? Talked to the client about adding these steps, they agreed. I'm even more happy with the outcome now.

I honestly don't do cement/masonry work. Clearly, i can figure out some thangs though. Retaining wall built for this backyard - rebar, concrete and 4x4 posts all up in there, glued and nailed some lattice on there, screwed in the chicken wire and hit that wall with 2 coats and a smoothing. I had a little help building the retaining wall, but that's it.

I have been down on my business - the business, not my work... because i really have been churning out some projects, solo dolo, and putting in crazy work for my clients. I just haven't felt appreciated in doing so. On this exterior fence retaining wall project, I - 90% of the work you see here was done solely by me - put all that frustration into this project. The existing fence/wall was taken down and replaced, piece by piece, by me (alone). I had a vision and i brought it to fruition through rain, heat, chill, pain and frustration. I'm super proud of this outcome. I still have to paint it, install my folding stairs, cement the retaining wall and adjust the door... but, look at this sh*t...AMAZING! Average person has no idea why im so hype. Its structurally sound and built to last... by me alone.

Folks will pay double for a product or service from a corporation, but hate to see the small business do the same. That mindset needs to be studied.
