CBP Architects was pleased to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Barry R. Sharer Pavilion yesterday!

Work has begun on this project, which will feature 42 units of affordable housing and a first-floor medical suite. Once integrated into its larger campus, the Pavilion will help support Woods Services clients with behavioral health complexities, autism, and developmental disabilities. Completion is expected in Summer 2027.

We are excited to see construction on this project underway and are grateful to the many supporters, advocates, and representatives who made it possible!

CBP Architects recently welcomed David Owe back to our firm! After interning last summer, David joined CBP full-time in 2026 and has since supported the firm’s affordable housing projects.

Born in Lagos, David was inspired by Nigeria’s culture of extended families designing their own homes. He combines his design skills with an interest in the social, environmental, and real estate forces that shape multifamily housing. In his free time, David enjoys traveling, playing soccer, painting, and 3D printing. He is currently involved with the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA).

At Reverend James Moore Sr. Triangle Village, the brick and vinyl façade complements the neighborhood's existing character while connecting with surrounding development.

“I see this community continuing to change. I see more gentrification. . . That’s why I work as hard as I do — to make sure that folk are able to stay in the community.”– Reverend James Moore Sr.

'There is a particular kind of patience required to build affordable housing in Philadelphia. Not the passive kind — not waiting, not hoping — but the active, grinding, get-back-up-and-try-again kind. In the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia, this patience runs through the Second Mount Zion Baptist Church, and the people who decided that the neighborhood they loved was worth the long haul.' – Sixty Years of Showing Up - see link in bio for full story.

Reverend James Moore Sr. Triangle Village provides much-needed affordable senior housing in Philadelphia's Mantua neighborhood. The project was financed using the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) via the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA). Phase One of the two-phase project involved a three-story building with 40 one-bedroom apartments designed to support aging in place.

Triangle Village was designed to Passive House standards and has earned Enterprise Green Communities Certification Plus and WELL Certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). It is pending certification from the Passive House Institute (PHI).

CBP Architects Architectural Intern Ryan Sharples was awarded Second Place in the 2026 “Design With Light” Student design competition!

Organized by the Philadelphia chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), this annual award raises awareness of the lighting design profession within the student community. Ryan and the other winners were honored Thursday, June 11 at The Philaments Awards, at The Franklin Institute.

This year’s brief required students to develop a custom tabletop luminaire, exploring the interplay between light and materiality and its experiential impact.

Sharples’ winning design “Vicinage” offers opportunities for soft emerging light to capture and invite inquiry through its larger solid mass and series of reveals. The luminaire’s accentuating changes in patterns, finishes, forms, and transparency tell a story about the relationship between neighbors, and how light bridges divides between spaces.

In addition to providing a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwelling units, several are planned to be set aside for Woods Services clients. A first-floor medical suite will offer enhanced health and wellness services to the existing campus with which Meadowbrook Apartments will be integrated.
