Seriously guys, the ❄BIG THAW❄ is coming. Do you know what to do and in what order you should do it if you see this💧???
🏠The answers you need:
Safety First: Check for electrical hazards. If water is near light fixtures or outlets, shut off the electricity at the breaker box for that room immediately.
Contain the Leak: Place a bucket, pot, or large container directly under the drip or bubble to protect your flooring. Move furniture and electronics away from the area or cover them with waterproof tarps.
Puncture the Bubble: Maintaining your personal safety, use a screwdriver, needle, or small drill bit to poke a hole in the center of the bubble or sag. This drains the trapped water into your bucket, relieving weight that could otherwise cause the entire drywall panel to collapse.
Document for Insurance: Take photos of the active leak, the ceiling bubbles, and any damaged property for a potential insurance claim. (While insurance may cover the ensuing water damage (drywall, floors, furniture), they often will not pay to repair the source (the roof itself) if it failed due to age or wear.)
