Nobody is coming to save the entrepreneur.

There’s no guaranteed paycheck on Friday. No paid time off when you’ve had enough. No safety net waiting underneath you if things don’t work out.

You wake up every day and go chase it again.

Chase the next job.
Chase the next client.
Chase the next opportunity.
Solve the next problem.

Some days you win. Some days you get your ass kicked. Either way, tomorrow morning you’re back at it.

That’s the part of entrepreneurship people don’t put in the highlight reel.

You wanted the freedom to build something of your own?

This is what that freedom costs.

Sink or swim. Every damn day. And you better learn how to swim.

There’s a difference between getting paid and shaking down a client the second the job is finished.

Every contractor is worried about getting burned. Every homeowner is worried about getting taken advantage of. I understand both sides.

But demanding immediate payment the minute the last tool gets packed up isn’t always reasonable—and depending on where you work, your contract and state law may give the homeowner time to review the work and make final payment.

We’re contractors, not debt collectors.

Do the work. Finish the punch list. Communicate clearly. Invoice properly. Give people a reasonable opportunity to pay.

Contractors deserve to be paid in full and on time for the work they perform. Homeowners deserve to feel like they’re not being held hostage for a check.

There has to be some common ground between protecting your business and respecting your client.

Trust has to work both ways. 🛠️
