A celebration of George Gould’s life will be held on Friday, July 24th at 2:30pm at Trinity Memorial Church, 2212 Spruce St. All who knew George are welcome.
The church has an accessibility ramp via the west entrance in the garden

RIP Shirley Kitchen!
We lost another fighter for the people when Senator Shirley Kitchen passed away recently. Shirley was active in PUP when she went through a period of unemployment prior to her political career. She was a great advocate during her PUP days and the organization honored her during our 30 year anniversary celebration.
She will be greatly missed. Rest well Shirley.

Kitchen, who became the second Black woman elected to the Pennsylvania state Senate, leaves behind a legacy of public service, mentorship and advocacy.

PUP is saddened to learn of George Gould's passing. George was a tireless advocate for struggling homeowners and renters, and we're proud to have worked closely with him for decades. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

PUP and the people of Philadelphia lost a great man with the passing of CLS attorney George Gould. George represented PUP on foreclosure prevention issues since the 1980s and he drafted the precedent setting legislation that created the Homeowners Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (HEMAP) which saved homes of thousands of PA homeowners over the years. He was always on the front lines to protect vulnerable citizens and would never back down. He will be sorely missed.
