Craft Pro Masonry Restoration Inc. we are structural masonry restoration service for bulging, bowing, and deflecting exterior walls.

Residential we service the south Philadelphia area After my first 16 years in this industry, spanning from 1995 to 2010; from laborer to apprentice, apprentice to foremen then foremen to general manager and finally a salesman, I quickly realized that we were in a completely unregulated industry, yet I was seeing the same cracks on the same places in the same buildings over and over again. I sold my 1st company and started Craft Pro Masonry Restoration Company Inc. We were going to be 100% honest and hardworking and we were going to learn how to create value in an unregulated industry. Over the past 10 years an incredible transformation has taken place in our thinking and understanding of masonry structures. 🧱 PROJECT HIGHLIGHT: Diagnosing & Repairing Structural Movement at a Historic Church ⛪
At Craft Pro Masonry, doing the right work means looking beyond the surface. After re-pointing the main chimney last winter, we returned to investigate cracking that told a much deeper story.
🔍 Diagnosis
Once scaffolding was erected, we discovered critical cracks around the chimney and the adjacent wall above the Bilco door—signs the left-side wall is pulling away due to structural deflection. These cracks aren’t just cosmetic—they reveal stress in the load-bearing masonry.
We recommended a long-term solution: crack stitching bars for reinforcement, 100% stone re-pointing, and Star Bolt installations to stop the wall’s movement and preserve the building’s integrity.
🔧 Scope of Work Includes:
✔️ Installation of stainless-steel crack stitching bars across multiple crack zones to create a concealed “tensile net”
✔️ Precision re-pointing of all mortar joints on the return and radius walls using traditional raised ribbon joints
✔️ Re-sealing limestone capstone joints with urethane sealant
✔️ 12 structural Star Bolts installed at third ceiling joist to secure the wall
✔️ Careful drywall access and restoration for an invisible interior finish

🧱 PROJECT : Façade Stabilization & Structural Reinforcement at a Historic Property 🏛️
Craft Pro Masonry is hard at work on a multi-phase restoration project involving major stabilization, crack stitching, and steel lintel rehabilitation.
✅ Front Façade Stabilization
We’re constructing secure scaffolding set back 36” to accommodate the vestibule and create a safe access path to the building. Stabilizing bars will brace the bowing façade while we work—ensuring safety and minimizing movement.
⭐ Star Bolt Installation
7 structural star bolts are being installed—3 to reinforce the rear balcony joists and 4 at the attic level, around the marble date plaque. These bolts run through 4– joists and secure the exterior brick to interior framing with decorative cast-iron stars.
🧱 Crack Repairs & Stitching
We're reinforcing masonry step cracks with stainless steel stitching rods and polymer-based mortar. Every joint is re-pointed by hand using soft Type N mortar to match the original color and profile—preserving the character of the wall.
🧰 Lintel Repairs
Steel angle irons above the 2nd-floor windows are being cleaned, treated for rust, and painted with high-performance coatings to halt expansion. The bricks above them are re-pointed to prevent future deflection.
🔧 Retrofit & Clean Finish
We're replacing an old wooden lateral brace with hidden galvanized all-thread and red washers—designed to blend into the façade while adding structural support.

🧱 Stone Façade Stabilization & Restoration Project
Craft Pro Masonry completed a structural reinforcement and restoration of a historic stone façade.

🔩 Façade Stabilization:
Star bolts were installed to stabilize the collapsed wall.

🏗 Buttress Reinforcement:
Steel brackets were anchored around the chimney and connected with all-thread rods through pilot holes at multiple heights to secure the buttress.

🪨 Wall Reconstruction:
After stabilization, collapsed stones were dismantled, cleaned, and reused along with new stone. The wall was rebuilt to its original layout and repointed with matching weather joints for a seamless finish

Work Performed: Stone Façade Tear Down and Reconstruction || Problem: City of Philadelphia advised this customer that their building was going to fail. Two previous contractors attempted and could not complete this project.

Solution – rebuilt wall with CMU block and putting a veneer stone to match the existing stone. We were able to restore the building and out cost was les that the previous contractors.
