Today, we celebrate more than just Independence Day, we celebrate 250 years of the American spirit.

For two and a half centuries, our nation has been built by men and women who believed in hard work, perseverance, innovation, and the freedom to build something greater than themselves.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness have protected the freedoms we enjoy every day both in our communities and in the work we are privileged to do throughout Arizona and the Southwest.

To the mothers working in construction, administration, operations, safety, management, and every role in between: thank you for the professionalism, care, and work ethic you bring every day. Your contributions do not go unnoticed.

Awareness Without Action Is Not Safety.

Most incidents happen because someone saw a hazard developing, but nobody spoke up.

Situational awareness means more than paying attention. It means recognizing risk early and taking action before someone gets hurt.

Ask yourself throughout the day:
- What changed in the work area?
- Who is working above, below, or around me?
- What could go wrong if conditions shift?
- Does this task still match the original plan?

If something looks unsafe:
- Stop the work
- Speak up immediately
- Reassess the task
- Get the right controls in place

You are not expected to work through unsafe conditions…. You are expected to address them.

Strong safety cultures are built by crews that stay alert, communicate clearly, and hold the line when conditions are not right.

See the risk. Own the response.

Your Tools Will Not Save You, Your Discipline Will.

Every tool we use can either drive productivity or create risk. The difference is how it’s handled.

Before you use any equipment:

- Inspect it
- Understand it
-Use the right tool for the task

Powder-actuated tools, saws, lifts, drills; these are not casual-use items. They demand attention and respect.

If it’s damaged, tagged out.
If you’re not trained, don’t use it.
If it feels wrong, stop.

Control the tool, or the tool controls the outcome.

Fall Protection Is Not Optional.

Most serious injuries in construction come from one place — falls. And almost every one of them was preventable.

If you’re working at height:

* Tie off 100% of the time
* Verify your anchor point
* Inspect your equipment before use
* Plan your access and your exit

If you can’t tie off, the work is not ready to proceed. Period.

We don’t “work around” fall protection. We build the work plan around it.

No exceptions. No gray areas.

This is not a campaign. This is how we operate.

Safety is not a priority that shifts with schedule pressure, it is a core value that defines how work gets done, every day, on every task.

This week, we are doubling down:

- No shortcuts
- No assumptions
- No “we’ve always done it this way”

Every task gets planned.
Every hazard gets addressed.
Every employee has the authority to stop work.

If something doesn’t look right, it isn’t right.

Let’s execute at a higher level this week and carry it forward into everything we do.
