Have you heard of the Arizona Construction Career Days (ACCD) event? This event has been part of the construction industry landscape for 21 years and this year’s event will be held Nov. 2 and 3 at the Arizona National Guard, Papago site.

"The goal for ACCD is to attract students into the construction trades by highlighting various opportunities and career paths. And according to ACCD's President Rose Ann Canizales, a common takeaway for students is that they are surprised how much money they can make."

Interest in this year’s ACCD is high, explained Canizales, who said more than 2,100 students had already registered by the end of August and attendance is expected to meet or exceed pre-COVID levels. “I am predicting we will hit that 4,000 mark again this year, if not more.”

"Lynden Sanchez of Anthem competed in the HVAC category in the national SkillsUSA competition held late last month in Atlanta, Ga., and while she didn't place in the top five spots in the contest, she came away with an appreciation of the high caliber competitors, and the toughness and craftiness of the tasks to be performed."

Sanchez graduated in May from the West-MEC air conditioning technician program, and is going into her senior year at Boulder Creek High School.
