The heat is finally breaking — but the calendar brings a new safety focus.

Shorter days mean crews are starting and finishing in low light more often. Reduced visibility is one of the most underrated hazards on a fall jobsite: trip-and-fall risk climbs, spotting moving equipment gets harder, and hi-vis PPE stops being optional.

Good lighting plans, clear housekeeping, and heads-up awareness aren't seasonal niceties — they're how everyone gets home.

At WCP, the standard doesn't change with the daylight. Neither does the commitment behind it.

Sound is a building system — and most walls are designed to fail at it.

STC (Sound Transmission Class) measures a wall's ability to stop sound from passing through it. Hitting a high STC isn't about one product; it's an assembly: decoupled framing, the right insulation, resilient channel, sealed penetrations, and staggered or double layers of board all working together. Miss one, and the whole rating drops.

In hotels, offices, healthcare, and multifamily, a wall that leaks sound is a wall that generates complaints for the life of the building.

WCP builds acoustic assemblies to the tested detail — not to 'close enough.' Because you can't caulk your way out of a bad STC.

We spent the day at Northern Arizona University’s Construction Management Career Fair, meeting students who are getting ready to step into the construction industry.

The questions were sharp. Students wanted to know how projects move from drawings to install, how teams handle schedule pressure on the jobsite, and what the first few years in the field are really like. A lot of them are already thinking like project managers.

Level 5 is the difference most people feel but can't name.

Under critical lighting — big windows, wall washers, glossy paint — anything less than a full skim coat shows every joint, fastener, and imperfection. A Level 5 finish means the entire surface is coated to create a uniform substrate, so the wall reads as one seamless plane.

Working on stilts, our finishers deliver that consistency across ceilings and walls most people walk past without a second thought — which is exactly the point.

The best finish is the one you never notice.

A building's exterior is its first defense against the elements. When that envelope fails, everything inside fails with it.

EIFS done right requires attention to substrate preparation, drainage plane design, and flashing details that most crews cut corners on.

WCP's exterior division handles framing, sheathing, EIFS, and full waterproofing systems — with the documentation and testing protocols that protect building owners from warranty claims down the road.

The envelope matters. Make sure your trade partner treats it that way.

Our team was excited to join Northern Arizona University’s Women in Construction Night. It was a good reminder of how much this industry is changing.
Women have been building their place in construction for a long time, often as the only woman on the jobsite or in the meeting. The students we met are walking into a different industry because of that work, and they’re ready to keep pushing it forward.
As a woman-owned company, that matters to us. We know what it means to have someone show you the path is open, and we want to be that for the next generation of builders in Arizona.
We left with new connections and a lot of optimism. Thank you to NAUCM for bringing everyone together, and to every student who stopped by to talk with us.
