On the 25th anniversary of the September 11th tragedy, St. Louis will once again host the poignant and powerful Flags of Valor tribute on Art Hill in Forest Park. This moving event, scheduled for the week of September 5th to September 14th, 2026, will honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A SEA OF HONOR
The heart of the tribute is a breathtaking display of over 7,600 American flags, blanketing the iconic Art Hill. Each flag stands in solemn tribute to a U.S. service member killed in the line of duty since 9/11. The flags are meticulously arranged in chronological order based on the date of their passing, creating a visual timeline of sacrifice.
To personalize this tribute, each flag is adorned with a photograph and dog tag of the fallen hero, inviting visitors to connect with the individual stories of courage and loss.
A COMMUNITY OF REMEMBRANCE
The Flags of Valor event is made possible through the efforts of America’s Heartland Remembers, a non-profit organization, and the dedication of hundreds of volunteers who come together to set up and take down the massive display. The event is open to the public, providing an opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the significance of 9/11 and honor the fallen.
EXPERIENCE THE TRIBUTE
For those who wish to understand the profound impact of this event, a 2022 Emmy Award-winning video captures the spirit of the 2021 tribute. The video showcases the powerful sight of volunteers placing the flags and the emotional experience of walking among them, with the gentle clinking of dog tags serving as a somber reminder of the lives lost.
