Along with providing reliable service, Blue Ridge has evolved to

provide services to its members that are relevant and transformative in a changing world. The same power lines that were built to carry electricity to the countryside are now being used to bring fiber into homes of our rural areas. As a not-for-profit, member-owned distribution utility our employees are dedicated to quality service with a human touch.

Hurricane season officially began June 1, and we've already got our first named system on the radar. Tropical Storm Arthur is forecast to bring up to 3 inches of rain to our service territory throughout today, with a chance of wind gusts exceeding 20 miles per hour.

While Arthur isn't expected to cause any significant impacts here, it's a great reminder that hurricane season is just getting started, and it tends to ramp up as we move into late summer and fall. A few reminders to make sure you're prepared:

- Have a plan for staying informed during outages (blueridge.coop/outage)
- Keep a flashlight and fresh batteries on hand
- Charge your phones, power banks and any backup batteries before weather arrives
- If you rely on medical equipment that needs power, have a backup plan ready

Preparing now pays off down the road. Stay safe today!

There's no better year to visit our nation's capital. This week, South Carolina co-ops have sent 67 high schoolers to Washington, D.C. for the Washington Youth Tour. They join more than 1,500 students from across the country for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the city while learning about electric cooperatives and their role in the democratic process. These students have the unique opportunity to meet our senators, representatives and explore museums, memorials and monuments all week.

Our representatives this year are:
- Hannah Kate DeWease (Pickens High School)
- Marley Hayes (Pickens High School)
- Bailey Ezell (Pendleton High School), second from left at the Jefferson Memorial

We hope they're all having a great time! 💙⚡

Our motto has long been "Service Second Only to Safety," and that applies to everyone across the entire co-op. This week, employees participated in CPR/AED and First Aid training to keep their skills sharp. Thank you to the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina for leading these sessions.

Blue Ridge is proud to welcome Mosdorfer GmbH to the Oconee Industry and Technology Park. Congratulations to Mosdorfer and the Oconee Economic Alliance on a partnership that will bring more than 100 jobs to our community! 💙⚡️

It’s not often you successfully recruit a 300+ year old company to your community but Oconee County has! It was a "Top Shelf for Business" day as Mosdorfer GmbH , Oconee County and the State of South Carolina announced that Austrian-based Mosdorfer is locating its Energy Systems North American Manufacturing and Headquarters facility in Oconee. The company's first operation in North America will manufacture transmission line fitters and dampers. The project will create 107 jobs and have a capital investment of nearly $45 million. Mosdorfer was founded in 1712 and is the longest operating energy products company in the world.

Mosdorfer is an amazing company, and we are so appreciative and thankful that they have chosen Oconee County for their operation. Also, a big shout to the following partners who worked with us to make this happen:

Oconee County, South Carolina
South Carolina Department of Commerce
South Carolina Power Team
Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative
Upstate SC Alliance
Tri-County Technical College
Clemson University
Oconee County Chamber SC
