As if being picked by the legit #2 team in the draft, the Houston Texans, isn't adverse enough, all pre-draft narratives were against Stroud.

Even before being drafted, skepticism surrounded CJ as a player and his mechanics. People even went as far as to call him a "Poor man's Jared Goff" at his best. And his leadership wasn't really a known strength of his.

On top of that, being an OSU product, skeptics believed that just like any other Ohio State QB, he will fail at the next level.

And the pool of doubt just continued to be filled as it was publicized that he failed the S2, a test that assesses a quarterback's aptitude, in the preseason.

However, in retrospect, Stroud has managed to completely flip the script in his first year:

4,108 passing yards

23 passing touchdowns

10-7 record

Playoff berth
..And he has already lead the Texans to their first playoff appearance since 2019.

Not bad for a "Poor man's Jared Goff." 🤷‍♂️

Donovan "The Don" Edwards he was incredible in the College 🏈 Playoff National Championship Game on Monday Night. 2 TD runs from 41 & 46 yards in the 1st Quarter. Beat the Washington Huskies 34-13 at NRG Stadium in Houston. Fans were ready to see him have a breakout game in this biggest stage. Good receiver out of the backfield as well too. Playmaker in the running & passing for the Maize & Blue on Offense. I remember watching him shine against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 4th Quarter. 2 long TD runs on the road. From 75 & 85 yards out. Get out of Columbus with a 45-23 win at The Horseshoe on November 26th, 2022. Step right on up for Blake Corum in this game as well too. I remember watching the Penn State Nittany Lions matchup on October 15th, 2022. Get a 41-17 win at The Big House in Ann Arbor. Donovan Edwards raise the College 🏈 Playoff National Championship 🏆 in front of everyone else in attendance on Monday Night in Houston. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh & RB's Coach Mike Hart has been a savior for Donovan in Ann Arbor in the last 3 years. B1G Conference 🏈 & School Record 15 Wins This Season. This squad will be remembered for a long time coming now. Congratulations on your performance against the Washington Huskies on Monday Night in Houston......
