Living Well Ramah Navajo Helping our people plant and grow their own food plants in the Tłochin -Ramah Navajo- community.

One objective we have is health disparities such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc are occurring in epidemic proportions in indigenous cultures all over the world. We cannot alter genetics, and it is difficult to change the merchandise sold in fast-food restaurants, convenience stores, or even grocery stores, but by gardening, we can provide a means for families and individuals

to change their diet to live happier and healthier lifestyles. We know that diet plays an important role in the prevention of disease. A promising and sensible approach to chronic diseases is for families to grow fresh vegetables in their own yards by using traditional and/or conventional methods of in-ground gardening and farming, developing raised beds or planting in garden boxes, and learning techniques of water harvesting and soil building. A family can make a difference both today and for generations to come.
